UND's ResNet DSL service is now available to residents of University Apartments. The cost is $50 per semester, pro-rated from the date that your service is activated. This document provides a step-by-step guide for leaseholders to set up the service.

1. Complete a DSL Contract and Code of Ethics Form

You can get these forms by downloading them (contract and code of ethics, in Word format), or by stopping at the Housing Office to pick them up. The forms must be signed by the leaseholder and returned to the Housing Office. The contract spells out fees and requirements for the service.

2. Get UND Phone Service

In order to use UND's ResNet DSL Service, you must have phone service through UND Telecommunications. Contact UND Telecommunications at 777-4112 for details and assistance.

3. Buy a Modem

If you already own a DSL modem, it might be compatible with our network. As long as the modem can do a 1483 bridge connection, it should work. If you do not yet own a modem, or you have determined that your modem is not compatible with this service, use our buying guide to help in making a modem purchase. Only those modems sold by the C-store are guaranteed to work.

4. Setup a U-Mail Account

If you do not already have a U-mail account, please set one up. This account will be used for notifications of service outages and other support notifications.

5. Schedule Installation

If you would like help installing your DSL modem, you can schedule an appointment with ResNet Support for modem installation. You will need to bring your computer and modem to the ResNet Office.

You can pick up DSL filters at the Housing Office (open 8:00 am to 4:30 p.m.)

Wait patiently

When signed DSL forms have been received, a request will be sent to Telecommunications to activate your DSL service. Service activation should normally take no longer than three business days; however, high demand and unforeseeable cabling issues in the first couple of weeks may push your activation date out a little longer.
